is a Market of Artists And Designers. An excuse to do something more exciting with your life. A space for exhibiting, performing, selling, shopping, chit-chatting, surprising and experimenting. A much cheaper and fulfilling alternative to a country club membership. A campaign to save, support and sustain Singapore's creative souls. A chance to try something for the first time. A place that does not discriminate against pet-owners or small children.
MAAD is beyond the usual fashion-base, second-hand flea market. MAAD hawks only original, creative, and more often than not, handmade works by talented painters, jewellery makers, product designers, visual artists, wordsmiths and eco-friendly seamstresses. In the past 5 year , MAAD has made the work of these local artists, designers and craft-makers accessible to the masses. ... |

... By creating a fun and friendly environment for everyone, including families and even pets. Visitors shop and mingle with the MAADsters, often taking time to understand and appreciate what they do. We even see regulars drop by specially to say hi! and encourage them to keep the spirit alive.
Started July 2006, MAAD was originally held every sunday. After a month long New Year's break, MAAD was back with a bang and a whole new look in Feb 2007. It now happens every first weekend of each month, giving the artists more time to create fresh items for sale.
No longer just a market for people to sell their creative works, MAAD also provides low cost exhibition spaces for individual or even group exhibitions, workshops, art classes and also performance space for band, plays, fashion-show, live painting, make-up, hair styling or whatever their creativity can take them. Since February, MAAD has played host to two plush toy exhibitions, |

a Lomo collector's Lomography exhibition, several illustration exhibitions, photography exhibitions, an exhibition of the many things you can do with yarn, and a band of poets offering customized poems.
Besides the regular MAAD participants, MAAD has also attracted other local creative groups. |
One such group is OIC [Organisation of Illustrators Council], who used to gather only for closed door portrait drawing sessions. After receiving overwhelming response from their 1st live portrait drawing at June MAAD, they have been coming back for more.
The MAADzine was also introduced.
